Your PSP is now a phone too! (If you’re lucky)
January 5th, 2008 by SteveSony’s CES show site has reported news that VOIP support will soon be added to the PSP hand-held device. Nikkei Net (registration required) is also reporting that the Skype VOIP service will be available on PSP some time this month! … but it’s not all good news…
The PSP Slim was launched in September worldwide and sadly this will be the only version of the hand-held device capable of the Skype functionality. Owners of the slim-line PSP will be able download the Skype software directly onto the machine but will need a specially designed microphone in order to talk.
The service will be free for PSP to PSP or PSP to PC calls. Slim owners will also be able to subscribe to a dedicated Skypeout phone number to take incoming calls from conventional phones.
