Devil May Cry was originally planned to be released only for Xbox 360 but Capcom have now clarified that ‘Devils 4′ will also be available for the PS3 and a demo will be available…

…at the beginning of 2008.

The demo will not include the zomaar level from the game but be comprised of a collection of several bits of the game showcasing different varieties of gameplay and content. Players will therefore get a more complete picture of the game than a standard demo format.

Here are some features of the upcoming game as publicized on the Capcom website:

• From the producer of the original Devil May Cry ™ and Resident Evil ™ 4
• High-definition visuals moving at 60 frames per second
• Blend of familiar and new: newcomer Nero clashes with veteran Dante
• New characters and environments
• Signature blend of guns and swordplay
• Deep combo system rewards stylish dispatching of enemies
• Unique “Devil Bringer” arm opens up a range of combo options
• Distinct set of weaponry and moves for Nero and Dante
• Exceed System allows Nero to charge up his sword with a throttle effect, revving up to three levels with powerful attack options
• New active style change system for Dante allows him to switch styles and weapons on the fly, producing crazy combo possibilities

The first expansion pack for Warhawk is about to be shipped so this is perhaps a good time to release some screenshots to whet the appetite for Operation: Mega Dawn. Expect new gameplay elements and night missions which will require cooperation if you want to succeed. You will also have to learn how to coordinate your resources with the new player vehicle: the KT-424 Combat Dropship.

The new ship is well armed with the MBEC-3 described as a heavy support Cannon. You must provide the ship with a pilot and may use it to transport vehicles or up to five soldiers. The pack also includes five new maps containing industrial landscapes with buildings and plant providing viaual interest on the ground and in the air. Older maps have also been modified and you can re-execute missions there using the new ship.

This is the case of the PS3 that wasn’t. The Amycall phone has nothing to do with Sony’s Playstation 3 or the much-hyped PSPhone although it does boast the triangle, circle, square and cross buttons.

The Amycall PS3 can expect a number of ready buyers for this product:

• Microsoft’s lawyers (runs Windows Mobile software)

It also comes with a 2MP phone and a feature which simulates your choice of background noise so that you can pretend your at the railway station when you’re actually at your favorite bar. Very useful if you’re on the run from an army of vicious international lawyers!

The Silent Hill series have a reputation for being among the most horrific collection of games ever written but much speculation has surrounded the content and plot of the next release. To aid our speculation Play magazine has released a series of screenshots the best of which are reproduced here.

Alex, the protagonist was taught to hunt at an early age as well as to evade attacks and to grapple and use weapons so improved combat is expected. The radio that emits static when enemies are near and the torch will make a come-back after being dropped in version 4: The Room. The camera will feature 360-degree motion and the PS3 version is expected to have some Sixaxis functionality.

Version 5 also features an ‘active wound system’ which means you have to treat specific wounds as you might in real life. This could mean that enemies target specific parts of your body that are already wounded adding a sense of intelligence to the antagonists.

Playstation 3 users will be blessed with the arrival of Lost Planet in February next year according to Capcom at their London Gamer’s Day event. The PS3 version will include an online multiplayer system which will allow up to sixteen players to play through PSN.

This game has been surprisingly well received on the Xbox360 platform where it faces more competition. Playstation users will receive all the downloadable content and bonus characters that has been made available to Xbox users in one complete package. What’s more, the PS3 version will also star extra characters – including Mega Man, Frank (Dead Rising) and Jo – previously only available in the PC edition.

The plot

Somewhere on an ice-cold planet live the Akrid, enormous insects. The protagonist, played by the popularJapanese actor Lee Byung-Hun suffers from amnesia and can only just remember how his Father was assasinated by the Akrid. Wayne decides that his must take revenge and joins a group of pirates who are fighting a permanent battle against incoming aliens and other people.
