Taking a swipe at Alienware and VooDoo, Toshiba has re-launched its Qosmio X305-Q708 as its ‘most powerful gaming laptop to date’. The $4,200 top-of-the-range model comes with nearly every component upgraded.

The high price tag gets you just about every imaginable top-end feature that it’s possible to squeeze into a laptop case:

The graphics card is set up in hybrid SLI mode so you actually have three graphics processors squishing polygons for your gaming delight! The new X305 also uses a GeForce 9400M as it’s motherboard GPU, just like the Apple MacBook Pro. This allows the machine to switch between high-performance graphics card and low-power-consumption integrated chips when using the battery.

Further performance improvements include a 128GB SSD as the primary ‘drive’ for regular reads/writes and a 320GB hard disk for long-term storage,

Unfortunately Toshiba is still not offering a Blu-Ray optical drive, even as an option (they offer a DVD SuperMulti burner instead). This is despite the fact that we’re coming up to a year since it became obvious that rumours of HD’s death were not exaggerated.

Another downer is the ‘fiery’ fusion lid decoration which few male users would want to be seen walking around with.

Maybe you can’t afford a full-sized jet but how about $9,500 for a simulator that’s a cut above the average X-plane installation.

Somehow I think this one might be more realistic than most. The SX02 claims to be the mother of all flight simulators. It incorporates surround sound and surround screens and with HOTAS Joystick and a tension adjustable hand throttle too.

Following protests, a petition and even alternative images by Diablo II fans at the cartoon-like quality of the initial screenshots released by Blizzard a new set of images has been released baring a striking similarity to the suggested renderings of the protesters.

The new shots are shown below. Notice how the sickly green glow seems to be played down and most of the dungeon interior shots show s more desaturated environment.

The new screen shots see to be intended to demonstrate spell and action effects.
