Next Apple iPhone WILL be 16GB for two-speed Europe

A French-language Mac site, MacBidouill, has reported that an ad image from T-Mobile Germany has been leaked and that the copy indicates 3G speeds and 16GB memory capacity.

Tmobile ad as reported on MacBidouille site

This story is being reported by Apple and Mii, techztalk, iphonealley and jenkman-rumors as well as many others so the implications of this alleged leak seems to be being taken seriously. If the ad is genuine (the iPhone is described as an iPod in one place which could indicate it is a fake or it could indicate an early copy draft)

The announced specs are inline with expectations. The 16mb memory was speculated here on this site on the basis that the iPod touch was a 16MB device (and having an iPhone of half the capacity seemed to be something of an anomaly) and 3G is ubiquitous in Europe while EDGE is virtually unheard of. Having said this O2, the holder of the UK iPhone contract, has recently been adapting all of it’s masts to carry the EDGE protocol possibly in anticipation of rolling out a US-spec iPhone here which would be an embarrassment for O2 if Tmobile gets a 3G iPhone.

A definitive announcement from Apple is likely at the Apple Expo in Paris in late September.
