How to transfer songs from one iPod to another with the miShare connector

MiShare is a little known company that seems to be taking on Apple’s apparent right to determine what you do with its products. This little box has a dock connector at each end. No details are yet available but it seems to be designed to connect two iPods together so that you can transfer songs from one to the other.

MiShare connector

The MiShare connectors are rumoured to be in production in China right nowand if succesfully brought to market would represent the greatest threat to date to Apple’s insistance on each iPod only referring to one iTunes Library at a time. The MiShare connector incorporates a button and direction indicators, has no user interface and no software to install on the serviced iPods so controlling the songs to be transfered is going to be an ‘all-or-nothing’ affair possibly with the addition of a synchronizing option. MiShares web site explains like this:

miShare is a smart little gadget for sharing files and playlists between iPods. No computer or cable is needed, and it’s super easy to use. Just attach the source and target iPods and press miShare’s big button to start the transfer.

The best news of all is going to be that Apple has abandoned its ‘one-library-iPod-policy’ and openned up song sharing making this kind of third party fix completely redundant.
