Get 8 hours from your iPod Mini battery
There’s no doubt that the iPod Mini has a puny battery life but fortunately there are replacement batteries around and a quick scour of the internet will have a cheap replacement in you hands in no time flat. But then What?
When it arrives you need to open up your iPod mini (this will void your warranty):
- Use the tip of a flat head screwdriver to carefully pry the white plastic cover from the top of the iPod. The cover should be attached to the case by a small amount of glue.
- Once the plastic top is removed you will require a phillips head micro-screwdriver to remove the two screws at the top of the iPod.
- As with the top cover use the tip of a flat head screwdriver to carefully pry the white plastic cover from the bottom of the iPod.
- Beneath the bottom case cover is a small metal clip. Remove this clip by placing the tip of a screwdriver in each of the four corners of the clip, prying each side loose. The metal clip should come free from the iPod.
- Next we need to disconnect the connector at the bottom of the iPod. Use the tip of the screwdriver to gently pop the connector out of its socket.
- Push from the bottom and slide the motherboard out of the top of the iPod case. The motherboard will slide free from the case.
Now you can remove the existing battery and replace it with the one you bought. You should now have up to 8 hours battery life from your old friend.
While you’re in there you might want to replace the minidisk as well.
