The Samsung Luxia TV range: ‘Thin is in’ at CES 2009
January 9th, 2009 by SteveSamsung has announced a range of ultra-slim and energy efficient Luxia TVs at CES, to be launched as the 6000, 7000 and 8000 which Samsung claims will deliver “full ranges of natural colours and crystal clear detail”.
The TVs are based on LED backlighting technology which results in the efficiency of the devices. The 6000 is 1 inch thick and houses four HDMI ports and an ATSC tuner. It consumes only 60% of the power of a conventionally lit LED TV. The 7000 is similarly specced but also has a USB 2.0 port and wireless DLNA streaming support. The 8000 adds a 240Hz refresh rate and Samsung’s AutoMotion blur reduction to enhance the image quality during action and sports sequences. The 8000 also comes in that smart classic black Samsung casing
As is normal at CES the manufacturer has given no information on price or availability beyond the vague indication of ‘Summer’.
