LG RoboVac cleans your house while you’re out
October 24th, 2007 by SteveI have reported on domestic robots before on this site but unlike the BuynLarge range of automated domestic staff this one’s real! LG has launched its first domestic robot and amazingly it costs no more than a standard vacuum cleaner!
The RoboVac has been launched in Korea for a surprisingly affordable £400 ($814, €574) and even more surprising it looks relatively sleek compared to the clunky expensive examples that have been brought to market to date.
The robot will vacuum your entire house (or at least one floor of it) and then scuttle back to its docking station to keep itself charged. It can even be programmed to do the cleaning while you’re out at work.
If you need to you can override the automatic operation of the RoboVac using the remote control (illustrated).
You may decide that you have to rush over to Korea right now and buy one of these devices and start automating your home immediately. But remember you’ll still need to find robots that can:
- Make the beds
- Dust
- Cook
- Clean the kitchen
- Iron
- Do the laundry
- Shop
- Sort and stack the washing
- Carrying your RoboVac upstairs because it has no way of getting there itself!

The logical solution to stairs is to buy one robovac per floor.
