Upgraded Nvidia SLI technology brings 3x graphics performance
Nvidia has extended its SLI technology which enables the use of multiple graphics cards in the same CPU board. Up to three GeForce cards can now be combined on a single machine resulting in some profound specs:

- 2.8x performance increase over a single GPU system
- 60 frames per second
- 2560×1600 resolution
- 8x antialiasing
The heart of a 3-way SLI system is an Nvidia nForce 680 SLI MCP motherboard and three GeForce 8800 GTX or GeForce 8800 Ultra graphics cards.
With such a system users can take advantage of:
- 384 stream processors
- a 110+ gigatexel per second texture fill rate
- over two gigabytes of graphics memory
Ujesh Desai, general manager of GeForce desktop GPUs says that 3-way SLI gives gamers the flexibility to scale their graphics processing power with one, two, or three GeForce GPUs, depending on their desired price and system configuration.
The Nvidia site boasts:
NVIDIA SLI® is technology that combines two or three SLI™-Ready GeForce® graphics cards with an SLI-Ready NVIDIA nForce® motherboard to significantly boost the graphics horsepower of a single-card desktop system. You can also take your awesome gaming prowess on the road with a pre-configured NVIDIA SLI notebook.
NVIDIA SLI® hardware comes in a variety of options - SLI™-ready graphics cards, motherboards, and PCs, as well as completely SLI-enabled, pre-configured notebooks and PCs. It’s your choice - buy, build, or upgrade with SLI options for every budget.
With NVIDIA SLI® hardware in your arsenal, you’ll be ready to play the latest hyper-realistic DirectX 10 games the way they’re meant to be played.
