Gateway launches One in the eye for Apple’s iMac
In a clear attempt to gun for the Apple iMac’s market PC manufacturer Gateway today launched an all-in-one aluminium desktop machine. With the not-at-all pretentious name of The One this model is a departure from Gateways usual utilitarian offerings.

The new model fits in a casing 3.6 inches deep and the entire front face is black when switched off hiding the edges of the 19-inch widescreen LCD.
The design is minimalist and includes some innovative features which might even have Apple’s designers reaching for their pencils such as the cable connection cluster (gigabit Ethernet, four USB ports and AV ports) built into the external power supply removing the clutter from the visible parts of the machine. Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are standard as well as a 1.3-megapixel webcam hidden in the chassis.
The DVD burner is a side-mounted, slot-loading affair (just like Apple’s) and the main casing has three more USB ports, one FireWire port and audio in/out connectors. The One also has a 5-inch card reader and a USB TV tuner.
There is also a mounting kit available to attach The One to a wall.

I just checked out your site…really like the new Gateway all in one. Too bad I just bought a new computer a year ago. Great site. If you get a chance, check out mine too.
