Sennheiser PXC 350 NoiseGard noise-cancelling headphones
Sennheiser is the manufacturer of the award-winning PXC 450 noise-cancelling headphones but if you don’t want to spend that much there’s good news! Sennheiser have launched a very slightly cheaper set of headphones that do basically the same thing!

The PXC 350 has two operating modes. Without batteries fitted they operate as ‘normal’ headphones. The closed back design offers some passive noise-reduction but with a set of batteries fitted noise is reduced by 90%. The AAA batteries are good for 40 hours of listening.
Here’s what Sennheiser has to say about the noise-cancelling technology:
The NoiseGard™ active noise compensation system was originally developed for pilots, who work in noisy surroundings and yet depend on high sound quality for clear communication. NoiseGard™ actively cancels out noise through phase-inverted anti-noise. It works like this: tiny microphones pick up the low frequencies of ambient noise near the ear. The NoiseGard™ technology then reverses the ambient noise signal by 180°and creates a corresponding anti-noise wave that almost totally cancels out the original noise. As a result, ambient noise is significantly reduced. Now you can enjoy even the quietest musical passages amidst the roar of the engine. NoiseGard™ 2.0 reaches an improved active noise compensation of up to 90%.
The drivers are derived from technology in Sennheiser’s hi-fi range so the sound quality should more than justify the £330 ($472, €322) price tag.
