3G iPhones are coming on July 11th
At last we know. On the 11th of July 2008 Apple will make available the second generation iPhone in 22 major markets and it will be available 70 countries within several months according to Steve Jobs who announced the launch today at Apple’s World Wide Developers’ Conference.

If you’re in one of the countries on the map below you will soon have the option of purchasing a 3G iPhone:

The lucky 22 countries receiving the 3G iPhone on the 11th July are:

- Belgium
- Canada
- Denmark
- Finland
- France
- Germany
- Hong Kong
- Ireland
- Italy
- Japan
- Mexico
- Netherlands
- New Zealand
- Norway
- Portugal
- Spain
- Sweden
- Switzerland

- US
Facts about the new iPhone that emerged during the keynote speach included:
- It’s black with silver sides and solid metal buttons. The screen looks the same as the current model.
- No dimensions given but the photos suggest that it is thinner than its predecessor.
- Standby time: 300 hours
- 2G Talk time: 10 hours
- 3G Talk tim: 5 hours
- Video: 7 hours
- Audio 24 hours
- Uses existing SkyHook system (assisted GPS) not real GPS yet
- Compass facility using WiFi Tracking
- 8G price: $199
- 16G price: $299
